Secondary Section

These were the best years of my life. Recall my birthday being celebrated in full gusto as was the practice with all other classmates. A special box of candies were to be distributed. This was class V. After the distribution, the teacher asked me to hand her the empty tin container. It was a deep hexagon, with fancy prints on the outside, like a collectors item. I refused. Carry the regret till date of not having conceded to her request. Ms Mariam was Class Teacher.  Being a bundle of mischief, it was fashionable for all teachers to enter the class and before we got started, ask me to kneel at the door for an imaginary crime. Ms Mariam would always take up cudgels for me and plead that as a small child I be not punished so. But they would hear none of it. Ms Teresa was a favourite with most in the class. Enter Kinder Garden

I was all of 6 when i first got admitted to school in the nursery section. Fr George was Principal, and being a June baby, he insisted I be 5 in May if I have to enter school. It seemed I lost a year by a month. Later I made friends with others in a class  higher and realized they were not 4 when they were admitted.  There was this distinct bias towards me and us who were not of his state or spoke his language. But then that is life. 

and then I turned 5

I was all of five when I started to recall my life. The earliest memories are when i would stutter as we went to bed at night "Light Loff" I would shout. Being the boy child in the group all elders would crowd on me. Be it brother Justin, or Johnny. They would arrive and exclaim when they saw me with a Light Loff

Where it all began

My life and it's times have been interesting. Maybe it's time I penned it all down for my future generations. A nondescript father / grandfather who led such a colourful life. So here goes......
